10/21/2011 Wow! We’ve got lots going on at La Paloma this October, and lots of interesting and exciting ways to get involved! Here are just a few: Join us for Harvest Fest Halloween is closing in, which means Harvest Fest is just around the corner! It’s sure to be a lot of fun again this year, with food, rides, and games for the whole family! Harvest Fest will be on October 28 from 6-8pm at the Central campus and 6-9pm at the Lakeside campus. Kids are encouraged to wear their Halloween costumes. You can find out more information in our school newsletters, which can be found here. New Resources for Students & Families Our Central campus now has a lending library that will be open every Tuesday morning from 8-9am. Our lending library gives students in grades K-3 an opportunity to check out up to 5 books at a time. We encourage our students to take advantage of the lending library because it’s so important children to read on a daily basis. Our Lakeside campus now has the Patriot Bookstore located in the Parent Involvement Office. You’ll find school supplies, backpacks, planners, LPA polos, T-shirts, PE uniforms, and more. All of your student’s needs are located in one place on campus. Our Lakeside campus is also looking for Parent Involvement Night suggestions for upcoming meetings. If you have any specific topics you would like to discuss, drop a note off in Ginger Carter’s box. Congratulate a Teacher Also, have you heard? I’m so proud to share that one of our junior high teachers, April Rubasch, is being honored as one of the top 10 teachers in Arizona by the Arizona Charter School Association! Mrs. Rubasch will be honored at their upcoming 2011 annual conference. I hope you’ll congratulate her when you see her on campus. In addition, I would like to thank our new P.E. teacher and football coach Demond Williams for not only coaching LPA’s first tackle football team this year, but also for leading them to their first victory of 23-0! Way to go, team! All of us at LPA are also proud to support our staff members who are participating in this year’s upcoming Tour de Tucson. More than a dozen LPA faculty and staff will be joining the other Tucson bicyclists for this challenging ride around Tucson. Go team! Will you be hitting the road for Tour de Tucson, too? Tell us about it on our Facebook page. With the participation of parents, faculty, and staff, I really believe we can accomplish anything! To continued participation, Raena Janes |
