One of our largest fundraisers of the year is right around the corner - Raising Funds 4 Raising Kids Golf Classic. This is our third annual tournament and we hope this year's event can top the last two! The golf classic will take place at Forty Niner Country Club on March 20. The format is a four-man scramble with golfing beginning at 7:30 a.m. A complimentary lunch, raffle and silent auction will follow. We hope you can be a part of it! Invite your friends! All proceeds will go toward expanding programs at the school and making existing programs at La Paloma Academy even better. We hope you can join in! I would like to thank those individuals and local businesses who have supported us in past years, including Tucson Mayor Bob Walkup and Vice Mayor of Marana Herb Kai! We look forward to seeing all of you on the greens again this year! This year's fundraising goal is to raise funds for technology, which is a critical component in the classroom. We will expand our computer labs so that more students can use the computers at any given time. Currently, we are looking for players, sponsors, volunteers and raffle and silent auction donations for the tournament. Please spread the word and help us make this the best year ever! Family, friends, business associated...everyone is welcome! This week also kicked off one of our favorite times at school - Love of Reading Week! We are so excited to share a love of reading with our favorite local personalities, city figures and university athletes. We look forward to exploring some of our favorite books and characters throughout the week. If you are interested in stopping by, please ask your student's teacher for a reading schedule! Next week, our kindergarten through third grade students will be celebrating Grandparent's Day Wednesday, February 24 at 9:30 a.m. We would love to welcome each and every grandparent! Lunch is a gift from the school to our grandparents, but please be sure to register your grandma and grandpa so we know how much food we will need to provide! Your student should have brought a form home, but in the event it went missing, there are extra forms at the front desk. I continue to be amazed at our student's kindness, progress and academic drive. I look forward to witnessing both individual and team successes in our many classroom lessons, activities, events and fundraising programs. To continued great learning, Raena
