About Us

aboutUsWelcome to La Paloma Academy, Tucson’s fastest-growing charter school and the largest charter school in Southern Arizona. La Paloma Academy is a tuition-FREE, not-for-profit school. This gives us an advantage over private schools, which can cost thousands of dollars each year.

La Paloma Academy centers on more than just academics. We follow the Arizona State Standards while simultaneously implementing a family values curriculum. Curriculum is purchased with the alignment of the standards in mind. Our students are taught about trustworthiness, respect, responsibility, fairness, caring, and citizenship. The La Paloma Academy staff makes our students' educational experience both entertaining and challenging at the same time

Charter schools, like La Paloma Academy, are public schools. Charter schools must adhere to the same major laws and regulations as all other public schools.

The major difference between charter and public schools is that charter schools have the freedom to set their own rules with regard to curriculum and teaching styles. La Paloma Academy, like many charter schools, was designed to deliver programs tailored to educational excellence and the needs of the community it serves.

Charter schools are funded by the state, grants and community donations. The community donations that La Paloma Academy receives helps our programs and curriculum grow. With significantly less funding from the state, La Paloma Academy relies heavily on community support. Charitable giving from our community neighbors is appreciated. We are grateful to have such a supportive business community.

The La Paloma Advantage
Here are just some of the values that La Paloma Academy incorporates into daily routines as a charter school, giving us the La Paloma Advantage:

Character Curriculum – La Paloma Academy implements a character curriculum based on basic values called the Six Pillars of Character: trustworthiness, respect, responsibility, fairness, caring and citizenship.

Parent Involvement – Teachers work with parents directly, so that parents can monitor test scores, homework and attendance on a daily basis.

Uniforms – A dress code policy is enforced. Uniforms allow students to focus on their education instead of designer labels and fashion trends. The school colors are red, white and blue.
